Social Justice for All of Life
The Legacy of MLK and Ascent of Obama for a Compassionate New World!
On today's Vegan World Radio, our featured guests are two individuals, pioneers in their respective fields, who share a profound belief in the importance of justice and compassion for all of life. Kathy Freston is a national best-selling author whose most recent work, Quantum Wellness, was featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show. With her philosophy of "conscious eating," Kathy inspired Oprah to go vegan for 3 weeks! Kenneth Williams is an African-American, nationally-known vegan body builder who's passion for civil rights and social justice moved and inspired him to go vegan and speak out against the oppression of all beings, human and nonhuman. Tune in for all that and more on today's Vegan World Radio!

hosted by: Anuj Shaw

"I think how we treat our animals reflects how we treat each other. It's very important that we have a president who is mindful of the cruelty that is perpetrated on animals."
~~ Barack Obama

"Never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way."
~~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
Coretta Scott King embraced a vegan diet in 1995 due to the influence of her son, Dexter Scott King. Coretta believed that promoting animal rights was the next "logical extension" of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s philosophy of non-violence.
"Veganism has given me a higher level of awareness and spirituality."
~~Dexter Scott King, Son of Martin Luther King, Jr.

>> Last Chance to Speak Up AGAINST Factory Fish Prisons in our Gulf:
Final PUBLIC HEARING on Open Ocean AQUACULTURE

Texas will soon legalize factory farming of fish in the Gulf of Mexico. This is your LAST CHANCE to voice opposition to the creation of these horribly cruel, polluting and unnatural industry operations. A strong opposition movement last year caused regulators to postpone final action. However now approval seems likely without a strong public outcry. These overcrowded cages in the open ocean cause the animals to fight and struggle with each other in an immoral last ditch effort to squeeze more fish meat out of waters already exploited close to the point of collapse.  Though the regulating body, The Gulf Council, has "officially" closed public comment on this issue since October, advocates against fish factory farms must CONTINUE to be vocal in opposition as long as this cruel and contaminating industry remains a threat in our Gulf.

Voice your opposition, as a coastal resident now AGAINST Open Ocean Aquaculture by contacting the body handling public comment, The Gulf Coast Fisheries Council: FAX: (813) 348-1711 (Recommended), gulfcouncil@gulfcouncil.org, phone: toll-free (888) 833-1844

**Write to The GULF COUNCIL at 2203 N. Lois Avenue, Suite 1100 • Tampa, FL  33607 •
