episode no. 110 :: first broadcast on 25 august 2010
The Legacy of Krishna -- Compassion or Cruelty?
Examining the toll of dairy products on our health and the inescapable cruelty in every glass of milk

As thousands of Hindus in Houston, and millions across the globe, prepare to celebrate Janmashtami, a celebration of the Hindu God Krishna's birth, one must contemplate whether dairy foods should have a place in this esteemed spiritual holiday. On today's show, we will hear from Dr. Manish Wani, president of Houston's very own Mahatma Gandhi Library, about the cultural and spiritual significance of this beloved holiday. We will also speak to none other than George Eisman - a registered dietitian and authority on nutrition for nearly 30 years. He will talk to us about the devastating health effects of dairy foods and the immense cruelty that is inflicted by the dairy industry -- issues that compel anyone, Hindu or not, to reconsider including dairy in our cultural and spiritual celebrations. But first, we'll cover the latest breaking news of the massive egg recall due to the salmonella outbreak. Join us for all that, and more, on this week's VEGAN WORLD RADIO!

Today's Guests
In Defense of Animals
