Product Description
This book stands out among the many Chinese vegetarian cookbooks available with its many innovative recipes for vegetarian "mock meat" dishes, just like those you'd enjoy in Buddhist restaurants. These recipes are as authentic as possible, without calling for extremely exotic ingredients that may be very hard for anyone outside of a large city to find.

HARDCOVER BOOK - Quantum Wellness: A Practical and
Spiritual Guide to Health and Happiness
by Kathy Freston
Review: I saw an interview with Kathy on Oprah. I can remember where I was standing and can still feel the goose bumps. Kathy explained conscious eating like I've never heard before. At that moment, I comprehended on a deep level the spiritual aspect of not eating meat, and from that moment on I have not had a piece of meat.

Restaurant Review: The food is yummy and the people are super sweet. Great haven for all vegans and the wait staff are knowledgeable and articulate in English. They make excellent vegan "creamy" cauliflower soup and the corn version is also not to be missed. Specialty items are the frozen whipped vegan cappuccino and other varieties with tangy fruit. The buffet is huge and varied with delicious options. Favorite menu entree is the sweet and sour, and the noodle soups are scrumptious. The service is top-notch and the restaurant is super clean. Decor is classy and tasteful. I get mesmerized by the paper lanterns and Asian art. The only down-side is to find it closed on Wednesday, when you're craving it. Highly recommend to new-comers of Chinese veggie-meats. The staff is so friendly, they can explain anything you want to know. source:b4-u-eat.com

>> Last Chance to Speak Up AGAINST Factory Fish Prisons in our Gulf:
Final PUBLIC HEARING on Open Ocean AQUACULTURE

http://action.foodandwaterwatch.org/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=443

Tell Your Texas Representatives to Listen to the People and Say No to Ocean Fish Farms in the Gulf!

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council and the National Marine Fisheries Service will be voting at the end of January on whether or not to allow industrial ocean fish farming – growing fish in huge cages in open water – in the Gulf of Mexico. This could cause a variety of problems for fishermen, our environment and recreational users of the Gulf. Thousands of people have sent in comments urging the Council not to pass this plan. Texas has two state representatives on the Council – tell them that at a minimum one should vote no - as so many Texas residents have opposed this plan!  And if they both have to vote the same way then they should abstain.   Listen to the people!Robin Riechers

Michael Ray

Texas Parks and Wildlilfe/Gulf Council

Phone:(512) 389-4649
Dear Mr. Ray and Mr. Riechers, At the end of this month you will have the opportunity to decide whether or not to allow industrial fish farming to become a regular practice in our Gulf waters. As representatives of the public through Texas Parks and Wildlife, I expect you to honor your commitment to public service by listening to the people. Many Texans have already voiced their opposition to this plan by submitting formal comments and you need only to look at the record to see clearly that those demanding a better plan, or no plan, far outweigh those in favor of the current one. As it stands, the plan does not have adequate safeguards for fishermen, the economies of our coastal communities, or the environment. Voting yes on it would be putting the interests of a few from the vocal aquaculture industry ahead of all those who already directly or indirectly rely financially on access to and the health of a public resource - our oceans. Since there are two of you on the Council, at a minimum one should vote no. If, as representatives from Texas Parks and Wildlife, you must vote the same then I urge you to abstain from the vote. Sincerely,

_________[your name]__________

Texas will soon legalize factory farming of fish in the Gulf of Mexico. This is your LAST CHANCE to voice opposition to the creation of these horribly cruel, polluting and unnatural industry operations. A strong opposition movement last year caused regulators to postpone final action. However now approval seems likely without a strong public outcry. These overcrowded cages in the open ocean cause the animals to fight and struggle with each other in an immoral last ditch effort to squeeze more fish meat out of waters already exploited close to the point of collapse.  Though the regulating body, The Gulf Council, has "officially" closed public comment on this issue since October, advocates against fish factory farms must CONTINUE to be vocal in opposition as long as this cruel and contaminating industry remains a threat in our Gulf.

Voice your opposition, as a coastal resident now AGAINST Open Ocean Aquaculture by contacting the body handling public comment, The Gulf Coast Fisheries Council: FAX: (813) 348-1711 (Recommended), gulfcouncil@gulfcouncil.org, phone: toll-free (888) 833-1844
