Angeles, and an exotic getaway to Costa Rica for families and singles
interested in exploring the vegan lifestyle with Dr. John
McDougall. Also we'll get an update about our local Independence
Day celebration with Society of PEACE, gone Hawaiian style for the
occasion. We'll pay a visit to some regional animal sanctuaries
to understand the lives of animals spared from slaughter and hear an
exclusive interview with animal rights musician Justine Mayela.

July 8-12 coming up in Johnstown Pennsylvania. We will hear all
the details from certified nutritional consultant and cooking
instructor Maribeth Abrams, author of Tofu 1-2-3 and the VEGETARIAN VOICE column "Ask Maribeth: A Voice for Vegan Living,"
Dr. John McDougall has been teaching the life-saving vegan diet change to many hundreds of people over the decades, some of whom join him on adventure travel trips to ecologically diverse destinations while learning and eating delicious vegan foods. The next McDougall Adventure trip to Costa Rica is July 8-15 Listen in today as Dr. McDougall explains how fish-eating is not healthy or sustainable and how the fishing industry is destroying our oceans.
A native of Washington, D.C., Justine Mayela
has built a 25-year professional career as a vocalist and musician.
Because of her love for animals, Justine became a vegetarian at age 16.
In 2002 she visited Farm Sanctuary, an experience that resulted in her
commitment to a vegan lifestyle and her decision to dedicate her life
to helping animals. Cow
liberator, Lisemarie Dean will give us an update on Maybelle, the
heifer whose life she saved, and who now lives in peace at St. Clouds Rescue
along with other animals there who have found safe haven and kind
care. Also pictured are Norman and Beauford who participated in
the first ever Dried Grasses Tasting Test. Joining the discussion will be Alma Williams of Houston Animal Rights Team explaining the upcoming anti-circus demo and shaing an anouncement about the new Vegan Cafe in Houston. Kristen Lee Ohanyan of Society of PEACE will describe the upcoming Celebrate Freedom picnic in the park July 5th, and we'll also hear of the life-saving work being done at Serenity Springs Sanctuary and Animal Rescue by lifetime advocate Terry DeGaw.
